2009 Kymco Agility 50 Review

I’ve bought this scooter from my father-in-law for $650. He lives in Connecticut I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida so the climates are pretty different as it snows in CT I live on the beach and have to deal with the heat and the salt air.
I’m not sure what toll the salt air will have on it. I do keep it in my garage. It has 2,000 miles on it I’ve owned it for about a month so far and think it’s great but don’t have much to compare it to since this is my first scooter.
I initially bought it for friends family that visit often can take it out and go downtown or to stores without having to rent a car and since it’s 50cc, they don’t need a motorcycle license and I don’t need insurance on it but I’ve been using the scooter almost everyday and it’s been very reliable and comfortable.
What I like:
Attractive looking.
Very comfortable. A section of the rear part of the seat even raises vertically can be used as a backrest if you don’t have a passenger.
Positioning of all the buttons switches are very accessible without having to take your hands off the hand grips.
Passenger foot pegs are built in are not like motorcycle foot pegs.
The gas cap is locked and also is hidden under the folding part of the seat.
What I don’t like or wish it had:
More speed. It does seem to only do 30mph as I’ve passed police radar safety signs even though the speedometer will say 35mph. I do hope to learn how to do some mods on it to increase the speed. )
The only thing below the handlebars is a hook that you can use to hang a bag off of. As I am now using the scooter as a main mode of transportation, it would be nice to have a cup holder some add’ll pockets to hold things like sunglasses my phone still have them accessible while driving (preferablly lockable so you don’t need to take everything out and put it in the existing lockable underseat storage area). Something like a clove compartment in an auto.
Since the scooter is in the USA, the built in front directionals are not connected and instead have the typical yellow arm directionals due to Laws in the USA. I’ve read that you can reconnect them and hook them up to your existing headlights or install another switch and change their color, etc for fun.
I’ve been very happy with the scooter so far. Besides all the money I save on gas, it’s great being able to find a parking spot. I never knew scooters could be so much fun to drive.
