Cagiva Elefant 7 months, 1 week ago #250404
I just bought a cagiva elefant www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAGIVA-ELEFANT-900-CA. rksid=p2047675.l2557 to use mainly in big bike rallys, I did some events last year on a 950 SE but did not like the idea of wrecking a bike worth almost £5000 so just bought this. any one know of a good source of spares not just service items, need a petrol tap and a clutch master cylinder seal kit as well as cam belts air/oil filters ect. hope to have it ready for the centennial rally in 2 weeks time.

Any help/ tips welcome and how do they cope with river crossings? ducati electrics are not known for being the best
Thanks Lee.
Hi Lee, Any Ducati dealer for engine service parts (its nearly a 900ss engine), air filter is Fiat Panda. If it hasnt had belts dont run it until it has (I learnt that very early when bringing one out of hiding )
Most parts are out there (even panels)
Roy Armstrong (as mentioned) owns Italsport Ducati in Bury if your in the North.
Like mentioned there are weak points in the wireing which are an easy fix. Earths (make em good). Main conector behind right panel (get rid) Battery 100% (never us jump leads, they hate them) pm me for the mods if you like or I`ll point you to some web pages.
I may have some of your other parts but all my bikes and parts are in a lockup awaiting my health been above 95% again so may take a while.
Ive had no problems with water crossings (except Gayle ford and 2 of water )
When your checking it over look at the rear spokes at the hub as the 900 likes to eat them as the metal gets older, also rear suspension links worn or seized.
Not as rare a bike (except the IE) as people think even though a lot of folks don`t even know what they are! Then other people (of a certain age) had posters on there walls when they where winning the Dakar and other rallies. Then you will get the ones whose mates mate had one and broke down every day it cost him ££££`s in repairs but there usually the ones who wanted one but didnt have the balls to be different
A very capable underated bike which will take an amazing amount of abuse and even now will hold its own on and off road against most of the modern crop of bikes
