EICMA Live – 2014 Aprilia RSV4 range and the Tuono V4 R ABS showcased

The Aprilia Tuono V4 R ABS and the 2014 Aprilia RSV4 range have debuted at the 2013 EICMA.

Aprilia Tuono V4 R ABS

The Aprilia Tuono V4 R ABS is the company’s main exhibit. It comes in two colors – black and white – and has an ABS system that features three logics or interventions.

Among other innovations on the Tuono are the Brembo monoblock calipers and the revised APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control). The saddle is redesigned, the fuel tank has been reshaped and has higher capacity, and the chassis setup is more suited for everyday riding.

The Tuono V4 R ABS is powered by a V4 engine that develops 170 hp @ 11,500 rpm and 111.5 Nm @ 9,500 rpm. Can the Tuono be regarded as the most advanced and efficient naked sportsbike in the world?

The 2014 Aprilia RSV4 R Factory ABS and the 2014 Aprilia RSV4 ABS are also in attendance at the EICMA show. The bikes sport a further developed and refined APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) package.

The new APRC has functions that include ATC. Aprilia Traction Control, AWC. Aprilia Wheelie Control, ALC. Aprilia Launch Control, and the AQS. Aprilia Quick Shift.

The ABS brakes have three levels of intervention which are –

Level 1 – Dedicated to the track, acts on both wheels and ensures the highest possible performance.

Level 2 – Dedicated to road driving, acts on both wheels progressively based on the vehicle speed.

Level 3 – Dedicated to driving on surfaces with poor grip, acts on both wheels cautiously.

All three levels can be combined with any of the engine maps (Track. Sport or Road) to find the best possible combination.

The 2014 model is identified by a different finish of the front fender, and by a new satin finish on the headlight and the base of the silencer. The most important of all changes is the new fuel tank, which has an increased capacity of 18.5 liters (up from 17 liters) and provides a more ergonomic seating position.

Both bikes get a new Bremo radial mount front brake, which have monoblock calipers, and a new radial master cylinder on the handlebar. The rear brake caliper has been replaced and to have a better balance under braking, the engine of the RSV4 Factory ABS has a different position within the frame.

The engine of the 2014 RSV4 is improved as well, with the 65 ° V4 motor developing 184 hp and 117 Nm. The output enhancements are mainly due to a redesigned exhaust system and a new electronic management system.
