Bajaj Auto unveiled the new Discover 125 ST (Sports Tourer)

As we reported earlier, Bajaj Auto today launched its latest offering in the commuter segment, called the Discover 125 ST in New Delhi. It has been equipped with many technology as well as design improvements which make the new Discover even more attractive and better value for buyers who are looking for a fuel efficient bike with good power and features.

The ST in the new Bajaj Discover stands for Sports Tourer which means a bike which is sporty as well as comfortable for long commuting or touring. With the styling and performance of a sports bike, yet with the comfort and economy of a commuter bike, the “Discover ST” aims to redefine commuting from “Chalta Hai “to “Daudta Hai”.

Commenting on the launch, K Srinivas, President – Motorcycle business, Bajaj Auto Ltd. said, “We believe that the average Indian commuter has to compromise a lot for the fuel efficiency. With the Discover ST, we are making a statement that mileage need not come with the boring design and outdated features.

He further added,”The Sports Tourer is an everyday fun ride to work. We believe that the sporty evolution of the commuter category will occus fast, and it is our intention to dominate this segment by introducing such breakthrough products.”

From the photos of the Discover 125ST, with the first glimpse itself you notice a completely new design. The front- fascia is almost similar to the Discover 150 DTSi, which was showcased earlier at the 2008 Auto Expo. The new design of fuel tank is much more sharp compared to the current Discover and derives more aggressive and sporty stance from Pulsar.

The slightly raised rear seat imparts a sporty look. The Discover 125ST also gets a front disc brake and half chain cover. The decals of the bike do carry forward the old/original Discover lineage in its design. The alloy wheels are with sleek ribs which gives it an agile appeal.

The Discover ST 125 comes with a 200 mm petal disc up front and a 130mm mechanical drum brake at the rear.

At the rear, the sporty Monoshock suspension not only improves on the aesthetics, but also improves on the balance, handling and comfort during the ride of the Discover ST. The engine fins are more corrugated for better heat dissipation and superior performance and cooling even in the scorching hot summers in India. The frame or the chassis has been designed to suppress the vibrations for a more comfortable ride.
