On the road the S 1000 RR is both capable and comfortable but it on the race track where all the qualities of the RR can be fully utilised.
The BMW Motorrad RR Experience Test Rides Track Days gives all riders the perfect opportunity to get behind the ‘bars of the RR and other BMW sports machines on track and away from normal road traffic. As well riders can learn more about riding by riding their own motorcycles on the one-way bitumen.
The first BMW Motorrad RR Experience Track Day got off to a sensational start at Queensland Raceway.
In the perfect conditions riders on a mix of bikes enjoyed the freedom only a race track can give. For many the day was the opportunity to get behind the ‘bars of the awesome S 1000 RR. The long fast straights and tight corners really highlighted the RR’s acceleration, braking and handling performance.
The Quick-shift gear change and other technical innovations on the RR stunned the first time riders of BMW’s award winning sports bike.
BMW Motorrad RR Experience Days are for registered road bikes (no track bikes or slicks) and are designed for first timers. All the sessions have a lead and sweep riders for the first two laps to give riders an insight as to correct lines. These experienced marshals stay on track to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
Riders in Queensland were also treated by presence of former World Supersport champion, Chris Vermeulen and Next Gen BMW Team’s Glenn Allerton. Chris headed out on track with the riders passing on his knowledge and experience while Glenn was on hand with off track Tech Talk sessions giving riders the unique experience of seeing how Australia’s leading BMW HP4 rider prepares for racing and passing on his vast experience in the vital areas of suspension, tyre pressures, lines and gears, body position and counter steering, that has relevance for both track and road riding.
Marketing Manager BMW Motorrad Australia and New Zealand, Miles Davis was on hand at Queensland Raceway for the inaugural RR Experience.
“To be able to give riders the unique opportunity to ride the BMW S 1000 RR on the race track was exciting to see. Many riders were clearly affected by the performance of the bike and everyone had a smile on their face throughout the day. The Queensland event was a sensational success and the up coming RR Experience Days in NT, Vic and NSW will follow the same way.
Places are strictly limited so I advise interested riders to book their ride immediately” said Miles.
At the end of a fantastic day everyone went home with a smile on their face armed with a bit more knowledge about their motorcycle and how it works. For those who rode the S 1000 RR for the first time it was an experience they will never forget.
The RR Experience will move on to NT, Victoria and NSW giving even more riders the opportunity to get that RR feeling. Chris Vermeulen and Glenn Allerton will again be on hand to make the day even more enlightening and instructive. Places will fill quickly so book now for a great day.
The test rides have a small fee of $49 to participate and include one test ride session, light refreshments and a limited edition BMW RR Experience t-shirt (only 1 t-shirt per person, even if you book multiple test rides).
The track day is $149 and consists of 5 x 15minute sessions (on your own motorcycle), a T-shirt and garage space is included as is light refreshments throughout the day.
The track day and test ride offer is $198 and is a combination of the two (but only 1 t-shirt). Get the best of both worlds and spend the day at the track.
