The Honda NX 650 Dominator is an all-terrain motorcycle of the Japanese car manufacturer Honda. The Enduro was built in 1988-2000 under the factory code RD02 and RD08.

It is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder engine with 644 cc displacement. The four-stroke engine produces a rated power of 32 kW (44 hp) and a maximum torque of 53 Nm. The cylinder has a bore diameter of 100 mm, a stroke of the pistons 82 mm at a compression ratio of 8,31:1.

The four radially disposed valves of the cylinder are driven by an overhead, chain driven camshaft. Ignition is by a capacitor discharge ignition (CDI). A starter cranks the engine.

The bike accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 153 km/h.1

The chassis is based on a closed Einschleifenrahmen with double girders made of steel and has a rear swingarm and Showa front of a telescopic fork with 220 mm travel.

The power conversion is done through a five-speed gearbox, the separation force by a multi-plate wet clutch and the secondary drive via an O-ring chain. On the front tire delayed a hydraulically operated disc brake with dual-piston floating caliper by Nissin, a rear disc brake with single-piston caliper.

The average fuel consumption is 5.5 liters per 100 km at a speed of 120 km / h The fuel tank has a volume of 16 liters, of which 2.5 liters reserve. The manufacturer recommends the use of unleaded motor gasoline with an octane number of at least 92 octane.

The exhaust system is made of stainless steel. The exhaust manifold joins the two tailpipes of the dual-port exhaust system. From the year 1991, a secondary air system (SLS) was blocked due to stricter emissions regulations that reduced the power of originally 45 to 44 hp.

The dry weight is 152 kg and the maximum load 177 kg. The Enduro has a ground clearance of 255 mm. The front tire size is 120/90-17 rear 90/90-21 54S and 64S.

In addition to the NX 650 NX versions there was also the 125, 250 and 500 All variants possessed a four-stroke engine with a cylinder, and four valves, and an electric starter initially, a kick starter. The 500 cc version differs only in the lower capacity of the 650 cc version. The 250 cc version is, however, a separate model, because their engine as opposed to the two larger air-cooled engines are water-cooled.

Also fairing, frame and design the 250 differ significantly from the 500/650 cc versions. The Honda NX 125, sometimes with the epithet Transcity, rarely seen in Germany as it is to get only as an import from France, Italy and Brazil.

During the production of the Honda motorcycle was again slightly modified. In 1996, the final assembly of the bike from Hamamatsu, Japan was transferred to the Italian Atessa. As a result, the purchase price for the Honda was reduced with the new factory code RD08, but should also be accompanied by a loss of quality gone.

NX 650 was the successor to the Honda SLR 650, with the same 650 cc single-cylinder engine. However, the SLR 650 and its successor, the Honda Vigor, because more than fun bike designed for pure on-road use as enduro.

Competing models with similar suspension geometry were the Yamaha XT 600 and the Suzuki DR 650

Unbelievable how well the Enduro Tourer behaves as: The vibrations of the single cylinder are tolerable, and the half-shell lining provides ample wind protection for fast motorway stretches.

But the resilient, high-torque motor makes in conjunction with the extremely easily maneuverable chassis both on the road and in moderate terrain, a good figure. An effective and well-coordinated brake spring elements complete the rock-solid impression.

The balance of the all-rounder – with the emphasis on it is that he really everything except for heavy off-road passages can well above average – seduced frequent travelers on the journey to their holiday destinations course to herunterzuspulen many miles on the highway. Although this is not the domain of single-cylinder engines, the NX engine can also handle the par force hunts without complaint.
