1993 Yamaha GTS keeps blowing EFI fuse (10 Amps)

i need to set the cam timing on a 1979 yamaha sx 1100 where are the marks picture plese.or where can i purchace the repair manual

An old XS 1100,

ye now theres a classic good old bike(my long lost love was a Z1R II)

This bike is unusual in it runs clockwise(from left) with its cam chain tensioner at the front. The marks are on the cam sprockets. Plus the crank position needs to be top dead centre compression on number 1 cylinder.Crank position ID marks, lets see, If I remember correctly are behind the L/H engine cover.

As for your manual(a motorcyclesowners best friend) were available aftermarket.Clymer is one brand and Haynes the other. To locate one try your local accessory dealer, the net/web/e-bay or try the classifide section of you favourate bike magazine(usually at the back).

Upgrading to LED turn indictors on 1998 Dragster (Yamamha) All lamps in place new flasher sited, now indicators only light very dimly and do not flash.

Bike can’t go pass 8000 RPM RANGE? For some reason after my 2004 gts 1000 bikes is running for awhile the bike hesitates or stops at 8000 RPMs and it can’t go pass this. Can’t go pass the 8000 RPM range at any speed. It doesn’t happen right away.

The bike needs to be running for awhile maybe a good half an hour of highway and stop and go traffic before the problem occurs.

Hi Zizi, I don’t think you have a 2004 GTS1000, unless it’s been in a crate for a few years. Anyway, it’s almost certainly sounds like a fuel fault, but two things to check.

I assume the EFI light doesn’t come on (orange one) and you have good sparks, but FYI the ignition coils corrode inside where the HT wires go. There is also a 16 pin multiblock connector above the alternator that is prone to going green with corrosion and all the sensor inputs/injector outputs go through this plug. The HT caps are prone to breaking down, replace them with SD05F NGKs, as they are a lot cheaper than Yamaha OEM stuff ( the OEM boots fit on so making a waterproof seal at the head again).

Fuel checks, you have a fuel pump in your tank, with a filter gauze. You also have a fuel filter to the side of the tank, and a return circuit controlled by a fuel regulator at the end of the fuel rail. The odd thing with your symptons is it takes half an hour or so. before you get the fault.

If it was fuel starvation, it would happen sooner, so maybe something like the coil is getting hot etc. Is the engine rougher?

You can also look on the www.gtsclub.org website, but you’ll have to register.
