2012 Bajaj Discover 125ST Sports Commuter Motorcycle launched in Nepal

Bajaj’s Nepal distributor, HH Bajaj, has launched a sporty commuter motorcycle for the Nepali two wheeler market, in the form of the 2012 Discover 125 ST. This motorcycle, which is the sportiest commuter offering from Bajaj in the 125cc segment, comes packed with power and sharp styling. The motorcycle is priced at an introductory price of 174,000 Nepali rupees, which converts to about INR 1.08 lakhs in India.

The motorcycle will be built at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant, off Pune, and exported to Nepal as a completely built unit(CBU). Apart from the Discover, Bajaj sells a range of motorcycles in Nepal including the flagship 200 NS.

2012 Bajaj Discover 125 ST Sports Commuter Motorcycle

The Bajaj Discover 125 ST was launched at the 2012 NADA Auto Show, which is happening at Kathmandu. The Discover 125 ST comes with a 125cc, four stroke-single cylinder engine that operates on four valves. This air cooled motor features Bajaj’s DTSi twin spar technology and outputs 13 PS of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 11 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm.


This engine comes with an electric start option as standard and is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. The Discover 125 ST gets telescopic front suspension and a monoshock unit at the rear.

Bajaj Discover

The motorcycle feature a petal front disc brake, another first for its segment in India. Alloy wheels are standard and the Discover 125 ST weighs 124.5 kilograms. The motorcycle sits at the top of Bajaj’s executive motorcycle range and offers sporty performance and looks to folks looking for that something extra from a commuter motorcycle. Likewise, expect this motorcycle to be positioned as a sporty commuter machine in Nepal as well.

  The Discover 125 ST has been selling well in India and with the Pulsar 200 NS, has been bringing in volumes of 45,000 units per month for Bajaj, amidst difficult market conditions.

In India, Bajaj Auto sells five motorcycles in the entry level commuter space. While the Platina and the Discover 100 make for the bare basic commuters in Bajaj’s line up, the Discover 125, the 125ST and the Discover 150 are the bigger displacement executive commuter motorcycles. The Pulsar range from Bajaj is aimed at the sports motorcycle segment, with displacements ranging from 150cc to 220cc.
