The long-anticipated three-cylinder MV Agusta F3 675 is now ready for production, almost exactly a year after its unveiling at the 2010 EICMA show. The F3 was initially supposed to begin production in September but now that November has started, MV Agusta’s new supersport is ready to go.

The 2012 MV Agusta F3 675 comes equipped with a four-map ride-by-wire throttle control and eight-level traction control. Also available with optional launch control, quick shifter and lean sensor, MV Agusta is calling the F3 the world’s most sophisticated supersport. And with a claimed weight of 173 kg (381 pounds), MV Agusta is calling it the lightest in its class as well.

TheF3 is powered by an all-new 675cc inline Triple engine with a 79mm bore and short 45.9mm stroke. According to MV Agusta, the engine is shorter, narrower and also higher reving than other three-cylinder engines. MV Agusta claims a power output of 126 hp at 14,500 rpm with 52 ft-lb. of torque at 10,600 rpm.

Claiming a first for its class, the F3′s engine is equipped with a MotoGP-inspired counter-rotating crankshaft. Fuel is injected by two injectors per cylinder with 50mm throttle bodies.

MV Agusta equipped the F3 with its new Motor Vehicle Integrated Control System (MVICS) electronics package including ride-by-wire engine control and traction control. Riders have a choice of four pre-set maps as well as the option of tuning a custom map. The traction control system offers eight levels of adjustment, controlled via the left handlebar.

If that weren’t enough, F3 owners can get further optional electronic aids include launch control, wheelie control, MV Agusta’s Electronically Assisted Shift quick shifter and a vehicle lean sensor which intefaces with the ECU and traction control and adjusts the throttle opening, spark advance and fuel delivery by reading wheel slip during all lean angles.

The F3′s chassis uses a frame consisting of steel tubing and aluminum side plates. This compact frame is paired with a long single-sided swingarm with a Sachs piggy-back shock. Up front, the F3 uses a fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi fork.

Brakes are comprised of Nissin master cylinders and Brembo calipers and discs.

As per MV Agusta’s tradition, the F3 will first be offered in a limited edition Serie Oro version. featuring Brembo monobloc calipers and Ohlins suspension. The 200 Serie Oro models also feature gold colored swingarms, chains, air intakes and aluminum wheels as well as machine polished clutch covers and frame plates, and hand-stitched leather and alcantara seats.

The F3 will be available at MV Agusta dealerships in January while the limited edition Serie Oro version will be available a month earlier in December. The 2012 MV Agusta F3 675 is priced at 11,990 euros (US$16,480) and will be available in red and silver, pastel white and pastel black/mettalic anthracite. Pricing for the MV Agusta F3 675 Serie Oro has not been announced.
