Overview

Beta presents the new Alp 4.0, a real factotum-vehicle. This 100% versatile bike is approved for mounting, both enduro tyres (on production models) for amazing trips on the paths through mountains and woods, or road tyres to bite the traffic of the town.

Its engine is a real 350cc 4-stroke classic: simple and created to last, absolutely reliable and perfectly faithful to the 4.o’s nature: excellent performances with no excessiveness.

Even the frame respects this principles: a solid steel chassis, simple and essential and an adjustable rear shock absorber assuring a good comfort on every roadbed. The disk brakes with a double-piston calipers assure a reliable and vigorous breaking.

For this year it is even newer and more exciting:

plastics with a new modern and sophisticated design, a new better-looking and more efficient headlamp unit, a new exhaust system, and two brand new paint-and-graphics schemes: White Pearl, Red

Verdict

The Beta alp 4.0 is can be considered a decent daily commuter or off road bike and is able to reward its rider with a pretty fun riding experience.

Its 350 cc engine however is a bit old compared to other units in its class. But despite its dated technology it is still one of the most reliable units in its class and has all it needs to deal with anything you throw at it. It can be a bit buzzy above 60mph and its maximum speed won’t impress many experienced riders either.

In terms of ride and handling, the Beta Alp receives good marks, as its long travel suspension and the high riding position give you confidence both in the city and on the off road tracks.

The 2013 Beta Alp 4.0 costs around £3400, which is a pretty fair price for what it has to offer.
