2012 Suzuki Motorcycle
When Suzuki designed the debut 2010 GSX1250FA, it had one idea in mind – simplicity.
This GSX1250 FA, which was basically a fully-faired Bandit, quickly became Suzuki’s answer to the do-it-all motorcycle. The GSX1250FA could efficiently perform the duties of a light tourer, a light-duty sportbike or a simple, everyday commuter, all without breaking the bank.
Due to the popularity of this formula, the sport-touring GSX1250FA returns for 2012 as a carry-over model with one color option – Metallic Alba Blue. It also arrives standard with much technology, including Suzuki’s Digital Anti-lock Braking System.
Creating the power for this 567-lbs. (wet) machine is a 1255cc, DOHC fuel-injected inline four that features an overly-square design for torque where its needed most on the street. The GSX1250FA’s liquid-cooled engine also features a secondary balancer shaft for smoother engine operation.
The engine features some top Suzuki innovations, also – Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) plated cylinders for improved durability, weight reduction and superior heat transfer, and a chrome-nitride piston-ring coating that contributes to reduction of friction and tighter cylinder sealing.
Feeding the GSX1250 FA is Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection, featuring 36mm throttle bodies. This system was designed to provide superb throttle response, smooth power delivery, improved mileage and reduced emissions.
For improved cold starting, the GSX1250FA features Suzuki electronic Idle Speed Control (ISC) that stabilizes engine idle under varying conditions.
The Suzuki’s engine is hooked to a six-speed transmission geared for acceleration in the lower gears, but sixth gear higher for impressive fuel mileage on the highway. The transmission also features a hydraulic clutch with coil springs provides precise lever feel and control.
Regarding the chassis, the GSX1250FA features a simple, tube-frame chassis with rake and trail chosen for an excellent balance between sporty handling and highway cruising comfort.
Up front, the GSX features a 43mm stanchion-tube fork that offers 5.1 inches of travel, and a single-rear shock with 5.4 inches of travel and adjustable preload out back.
The GSX1250 FA features Digital Antilock Brake System (ABS), which monitor wheel speed and matches stopping power to available traction. The front features dual 310mm discs with four-piston calipers and a single 240mm rear disc squeezed a single-piston caliper.
The GSX1250FA features a full-fairing for comfort against elements and engine heat on the road, while the contoured seat further increases comfort due to being adjustable up or down 20mm by flipping over the mounting spacers between the seat and the frame rails.
Also standard on the GSX1250 FA is a center stand, and a comprehensive instrument cluster offers a variety of gauges, including a convenient gear position indicator and shift light, oil pressure/coolant temperature indicator, fuel injection indicator, ABS indicator and a shift light.
As for touring accessories, Suzuki offers top and side cases, and a large windshield.
