There was no doubt that in Sunday’s race Kurt Busch made the decision to pit late. After he led six times for 98 laps, supporting Steve Byrnes at Bristol Motor Speedway, he had to go off the asphalt. At the moment when the caution flew for a five-car incident on lap 482, Busch headed for pit road and he was not the only one. Among other drivers who made the same decision, we can encounter Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon and Austin Dillon.

According to his words, it wasn’t an easy decision to make "We had 100 laps on our tires," Busch said of the call to pit road. "I thought we needed to pit. John Klausmeier thought we needed to pit. Then I was thinking this is the Bristol of old, we might be able to get away with staying out." Restarting in the sixth place, he managed to immediately communicate to his team members that it was indeed the right call to pit. Unfortunately for him, Busch collided with Edwards’No.19 Toyota, when the second slipped while trying to pass Gordon.  Unable to avoid contact with Edwards, Kurt suffered heavy damage to the right front of his No.41 Chevrolet. From that moment on, all his struggle and effort vanished since he only managed somehow to occupy the 15th position while crossing the finish line. Fortunately, the Stewart-Haas Racing team members are keeping their moral high, not being easily brought down by an incident "We will get it. We are not going to get one win. We are going to get many wins."
