1997 Harley Davidson Electra Glide FLHT. Gloss black with lots of chrome. Over $2000 in accessories including HD in-dash radio AM/FM/WB/CAS, dual chrome saddle bag rails, front and rear bumper rails.
Shorty windshield with chrome trim, ISO grips with saddle boss. It has matching HD floorboards, brake, clutch pedal and highway pegs. SS Super E Carb. Screaming Eagle ignition. I put on pipes with the baffles drilled out but also included are the stock pipes.
This bike has a new motor! New clutch. New rear tire. New battery just purchased last week which comes with 2 year replacement warranty. No wrecks.
I have both the original owner’s manual and the Harley service manual for it.
Here is what is really special about this bike: I bought this bike used in 2003 for a steal at $9k. It had 47k Texas highway miles on it. I rode it for about 2000 miles in southern California until the clutch burned out in 2004. After replacing all 7 clutch plates, the dealership opened up the engine to replace the bottom gasket.
Problems were discovered which resulted in our sending the motor back to Milwaukee to have it completely re-milled to original factory specs. $5000 later, Harley Davidson either re-milled it new, or more likely pulled a new EVO motor off the shelf since they were downsizing their EVO inventory at the time. Either way, the bike has a BRAND NEW MOTOR that still needs another 300 miles on it to be broken in. This is the revered 1340 workhorse EVO motor that saved HD from bankruptcy.
All seven clutch plates and a new rear tire were also installed at that same time. I bought a new Road King while the work was being done so I’ve only put about 180 miles on this bike since 2004, taking it out for short rides once or twice a year to keep it mechanically sound. I’ve kept it garaged, hoping for the used market to improve. It really hasn’t so I’ll be taking a bath on this one.
This cruiser is a head turner and ready to ride. With proper maintenance, this bike should run for 200k plus miles.
I’m asking $7,500 for this beauty. If it doesn’t sell in the next week or so, then I will consider reasonable offers. Cash only. No trades. Clean Kansas title in hand. Hurry, this bike won’t last.
EDIT: I have a few people interested in seeing the bike, but the weather did not co-operate. A dealer who saw the bike last week, asked if I had listed it for $8000. I replied $7500 for a quick sale, and he nodded his approval. He added that if I could wait another month or so to list it, that he thought I might even get $9000 for it.
But I would like to sell it before the registration expires at the end of this month, so the first one with $7,500 in hand takes it home.
UPDATE: Several people have said that they want it, but so far only one guy has actually come to see it. He loved it but wants to think on it. Well, the weather has finally improved so if you are interested, get it while you still can.
