2008 DR 200SE
2008 Suzuki DR 200SE
The 2008 Suzuki DR represents the third model year of the dual-sport motorcycle that Japanese manufacturer Suzuki introduced in 2006. The 2008 DR is divided into two models, which are the DR-200SE and the DR-650SE. For the 2008 model year, Suzuki set the manufacturers suggested retail price at $3,949 for the 200SE and $5,099 for the 650SE.
As a dual-sport bike, the 2008 Suzuki DR is designed for both on-road and off-road use, or for riding on paved and unpaved roads. Each model of the 2008 DR is named after its engine displacement. The DR-200SE has an engine displacement of 199 cubic centimeters (cc), which is rounded up to 200 cc.
The engine on the DR-650SE displaces at 644 cc, which is rounded up to 650 cc.
The engine on the 2008 Suzuki DR is a four-stroke single-cylinder engine, with two intake valves and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The bore and stroke and compression ratio of the DR-200SE are 2.6 x 2.29 inches (66 x 58.2 mm) and 9.4 to 1, respectively. For the DR-650E, its 3.94 x 3.23 inches (100 x 82 mm) and 9.5 to 1. Each engine on the 2008 DR is fueled by a Mikuni carburetor (31 mm on the DR-200SE, 40 mm on the DR-650SE), and Suzuki provides an electric starter for ignition.
A fuel tank of a peak capacity of 3.4 gallons (13 liters) goes on each bike.
For braking, each 2008 Suzuki DR has a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back. A telescopic fork at the front and a twin-sided aluminum swing arm comprises the bikes suspension. Each 2008 DR has a 21-inch aluminum wheel at front.
However, at the back are an 18-inch one for the DR-200SE and 17-inch one for the DR-650SE.
Available as a blue or black motorcycle, the 2008 Suzuki DR uses a sturdy steel frame covered in little plastic; the bike has fenders, a chain guard and fork guards. A one-piece vinyl seat provides enough space for a driver and passenger; it is adjustable on the DR-200SE but is adjustable on the DR-650SE.
For the 2008 model year, Suzuki added a speedometer to join the trip odometer on the DRs dashboard. Also included on the bike are a rear rack for storage, halogen headlight and a pair of side mirrors.
The DR-200SE model of the 2008 Suzuki DR is 84.6 inches (2,148.8 mm) long, 31.7 inches (805 mm) wide and 46.7 inches (1,185 mm) high, with a dry weight of 249 lbs. (113 kilograms). The DR-650SE, which is the bigger and heavier of the two models, also has a length of 84.6 inches (2,148.8 mm). However, it has a width of 34.1 inches (865 mm), height of 47 inches (1,195 mm) and dry weight of 324 lbs. (147 kg).
Only a few cosmetic changes were made on the 2008 Suzuki DR over previous years. Then again, it didnt really need a major overhaul; the 2008 DR delivers remarkably as a dual-sport bike.
