Intro
The Suzuki Burgman is a stylish and economical scooter that was designed to provide riders with the freedom of a full-size motorcycle in a smaller, easier to manage package. The Burgman was introduced in 1999. Originally the model lineup consisted of the AN250 and AN400. The AN250 was discontinued in 2002, replaced by the UH125.
The following year Suzuki introduced the AN650. For 2012 Suzuki has made two models available: the 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Exec and the smaller 2012 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS.
The 2012 Suzuki Burgman 650 Exec is an aerodynamic scooter that’s available in Pearl Moon Stone Gray and Pearl Mirage White. Striking to look at, the 650 Exec is also a comfortable scooter that delivers good performance and benefits from some of Suzuki’s most advanced scooter engineering. A light and agile scooter, the Burgman 650 Exec is a capable performer around town or on the highway. The suspension is smooth and responsive, while the seat is plush, providing for a comfortable ride.
Ergonomics on the Exec are spacious and there is ample storage space. Under the seat you’ll find a storage area that can accommodate two helmets. There are also three lidded front compartments that are useful for storing smaller items.
The 650 Exec’s ignition switch is outfitted with a magnetic cover that can only be opened with the correctly coded security key. The thickly padded seat can comfortably accommodate the rider and a passenger. There is also an adjustable rider backrest.
Rearview mirrors are electronically controlled and the windscreen is height adjustable, allowing for even greater rider comfort. The 650 Exec is powered by a 638cc liquid-cooled, eight-valve, twin cylinder engine that’s equipped with a Suzuki fuel injection system. Acceleration is smooth and powerful thanks to a vibration reducing dual counter balancer.
Combustion efficiency is optimized by an advanced digital engine management system that features Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV), while an electronically controlled Pulsed-Air injection system helps minimize emissions. A computerized Suzuki Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission makes performance even more efficient. The Exec’s automobile-style instrument cluster boasts an analog tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, LCD odometer/trip meter and clock, oil change indicator, oil-level indicator, and shift indicator.
The smaller 2012 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS also boasts clean, aerodynamic lines. It has pinstripe decals on the front and rear wheels. It’s also got a plush suspension that maximizes comfort around town or on the highway.
The 400 ABS has a fairing that not only looks sleek, but also minimizes rider exposure to the wind. Rider comfort is further enhanced by a stepped seat and a backrest that’s easily adjusted. The 2012 Burgman 400 ABS is powered by a 400cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine.
The engine runs quiet while producing an abundance of broad, accessible power. The 400’s electronic Idle Speed Control (ISC) helps ensure the bike starts when cold while also reducing emissions. Like the 650, the 400 ABS is equipped with a magnetically covered ignition switch that requires a coded security key to open.
There is a similarly sized storage space under the 400’s seat that also holds two helmets. The instrumentation is easy to read and features a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, twin trip meters, clock, and indicators for ambient temperature, average fuel consumption, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The 400 ABS is equipped with a parking brake and a well-padded seat that’s comfortable and dual stepped with an adjustable rider’s backrest.
