Development of the Ducati Scrambler in advance phase
Ducati is all set to re-launch the Scrambler brand and will be bringing it to the auto market as an all new Ducati 2 wheeler. The bike will see some retro styling tweaks which will increase the vehicle’s overall appeal.
Talking about the earlier Ducati Scrambler, it was the name given to a series of single cylinder scrambler motorcycles. This series was launched by Ducati in the year 1962 and it stayed into the market until the year 1974. The bikes were launched with various engine options with the 250 cc as the lower end variant and the 450 cc as the top end variant.
There was also a mid variant with a 350 cc engine. The bike with the 450 cc engine was sold under the name plate of “Jupiter” in America. 2 series of these bikes have been launched.
The first series was showcasing a narrow engine case while the second series was using a wider engine case.
The new Ducati Scrambler will be carrying the V twin engine with a displacement of 796 cc. This big engine will be offering a power output of 87 bhp. The new bike will also see some retro designing elements that will for sure make the Scrambler becomes a mass favorite once again.
A report from MCN which is a popular British Motorcycling weekly magazine revealed that the Italian manufacturer, Ducati, is already in an advanced phase in the development of this bike. The bike is borrowing its V twin air cooled 796 cc engine from the present range of the Ducati Monster. The finished form of the new Ducati Scrambler will make its first public appearance by the end of the next year and will hit the showrooms somewhere in the year 2015.
The company will be promoting this new bike as a lifestyle machine. Ducati will be selling company branded riding gear, toys, apparel and several other accessories along with the new Scramble. This will help the company to achieve its goal of launching the bike as a lifestyle product.
MCN has revealed that the company had trademarked the name “Scrambler” way back in March 2013 so that it can cover a broad range of commodities which not only includes the accessories for motorcycles but also toys, leather goods, clothing as well as cosmetics. This proves that the company is all prepared to make this bike their lifestyle product.
MCN has also released some computer generated images of the new Ducati Scrambler motorcycle and the bike indeed looks very promising. The bike is showing a perfect balance of modern technology and retro styling and it might work exceptionally well with a brand as renowned as Ducati. We are certain that this motorcycle with its crisp designing and detailing along with all the efforts behind making it the lifestyle product will attract a lot of Ducati fans.
