Test Moto Guzzi V7 Racer Kit “Record”

Re-examined at the beginning of 2012, the 750 Cm3 “small block” again gives interest with the V7 family. The Racer can henceforth benefit from a kit “Record” intended to polish its look. For a supplement of 1,799 €…

Moto Guzzi V7 Racer, one knows it well. It returned to us at the beginning of year with a battery of modifications which has improved the perceived quality, of which a sheet tank finally dope the performances, receiving V-twin of the cylinder heads redrawn and modified for a better maximum couple. Today the firm of Mandello gives the opportunity of associating a kit to him “Record” (head of fork + hull postpones) to affirm its sportsmanship; wink at the prototype house of the Sixties dedicated to the race.

Beguile in the hall of the newspaper, this Moto Guzzi V7 makes speak about it. If the praises are majority, criticisms relate to the color of the head of fork: “Curious to lend us a motor bike with a surface on the careenage!” Between the chromium of the tank, the red of the framework, the black of the back hull and this gray on the front face, the unit makes really patchwork. Too bad

Once saddles come, one benefit full with the reinvigorated twin and it is the profit of low-end torque which enchants. Flexible, round and vigorous as of 2500 tr/min, it even encourages to draw a little more on the reports, just for the pleasure and to benefit from its sonority. But attention, useless to hope for the performances of a roadster “mid-size”: Moto Guzzi V7 delivers only 50 horses, nevertheless in adequacy with its new-retro vocation.

This engine, it is necessary to listen to it, feel it to vibrate rather than to dry it.

Side part-cycle even registers. With its large wheel of 18 inches to front, beautifully offer a light inertia with the setting on the angle. On the other hand, its weak weight guarantees handiness and agility at the time of the successions of turns and its shock absorbers with gas ensure a good work on the bumps.

With the Record, one takes the time to lead properly, the more so the brake shows a timid hair with the catch of the lever.

The biggest problem of this Moto Guzzi V7 Racer equipped with the kit Record, it is its price. The 11,200 € (not counting the Arrow exhausts with 1,200 €) are frankly difficult to justify compared to the modest services. Fortunately, it is pleasant to live; and the fans with the festival will once be stopped with fire, the motorcyclists of any hair will not hesitate to raise the inch as a sign of admiration.

This Moto Guzzi V7 Racer kit “Record” is full with quality, in particular with its driving player and his sonority enchanter. But there is a problem: the price. With more than 12,000 Euros (with the pot Arrow), beautiful Italian has difficulty justifying its price.

Between the chromium of the tank, the red of the framework, the black of the back hull and this gray on the front face, the whole of Moto Guzzi V7 Racer kit “Record” makes really patchwork. Too bad
